conservatives think Google hiding Trump shooting

Conservatives in the US have accused Google of stifling information regarding the attempted assassination of Donald Trump in an effort to sway the outcome of the presidential election, and the tech giant has responded with anger.

Trump, who is a Republican Party candidate seeking reelection to the presidency, barely averted death on July 13 when a lone gunman opened fire at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania.

The attack, which left the former president's ear bleeding, one rally attendee dead, and two others injured, gave rise to a lot of unproven allegations and conspiracy theories. The most recent one focuses on Google Search's autocomplete function, which guesses users' search queries based on the first few characters or words they enter. This helps users save time.

Some internet users noticed over the weekend that typing in terms of assassination attempts in the Google search box did not immediately generate inquiries regarding Trump's gunshot, indicating Google censorship. Instead, users were directed to look up details regarding the attempted murders of other well-known individuals, such as Slovakian Prime Minister Robert Fico and previous US Presidents Ronald Reagan and Harry Truman.

Users looking for information about the attack can still access the same search results despite the apparent autocomplete oddity. Searching for information about Trump's attempted murder on Google still yields the anticipated results, including news stories, YouTube links, and a Wikipedia page.
