Schwan’s Co. South Dakota Asian food facility

The CJ Foods subsidiary Schwan's Co. has made more investments in its 700,000-square-foot facility located in Sioux Falls, SD. The company has acquired a 142-acre site and added a regional office.

The new plant, which will produce Korean food under the Bibigo brand, is situated in Foundation Park. Additionally, the factory will provide frozen and shelf-stable Asian-inspired dishes, sides, snacks, and appetizers.

The building will have office space, shipping and receiving docks, and a warehouse and distribution center once it is finished.

The regional headquarters will be based in Sioux Falls' downtown, which will facilitate its growth and the factory's operations. The company expects the office to generate 50 new jobs, possibly reaching up to 100 if the production facility is completed.

Additionally, Schwan's Co. will construct a wastewater treatment facility on the property, allowing Schwan's to release water into the city.

The company is investing in a new Asian-style food facility in South Dakota to strengthen its position in one of the country's fastest-growing food categories, says incoming CEO Brian Schiegg. He said they were happy to continue collaborating with local and state leaders to build a facility that will support their businesses and the people of South Dakota.

CJ Foods CEO Minsok Pak said that the US market has seen strong growth for the company. Scaling their product line to meet rising consumer demand is a crucial part of their business plan. They will be able to further accelerate the rise of Asian cuisines, including K-Food, with the use of this facility. They appreciated the help from the state and local authorities and wanted to contribute to their new home in South Dakota.
