Dyson has revealed its toothbrush, the Dyson Toothbrush CameraJet™, in Paris, a new oral hygiene solution that uses cameras to detect gaps between the teeth and apply mouth rinse jets during brushing. With six years of development, it is priced at $499 and integrates a 100,000 pixel macro camera, machine learning, variable sonic oscillation, fluid dynamics and app connectivity into one brushing, flossing and rinsing experience.

AI Camera Targets Hard-to-Reach Gaps

At the heart of the Dyson CameraJet™ is Gap Optical Targeting™, an AI-powered system that analyzes 28 live images every second. When it identifies an interdental gap, the device can respond within 100 milliseconds by triggering a targeted conical burst of mouthrinse.

Dyson says the system is supported by 16 million lines of code and machine learning trained on 470,000 dental images. The integrated camera can also provide live viewing through the MyDyson™ app, while the company says images are not stored on the toothbrush or in the cloud.

Conical Jet and Advanced Brushing

The Dyson CameraJet toothbrush uses a conical jet designed to cover a wider area than conventional needle-type water jets. Dyson developed its own proxy plaque during a five-year collaboration with the National University of Singapore's Faculty of Dentistry to optimize plaque removal and jet performance.

Dual-Bristle Brush Head - The inner bristles provide strength to remove surface stains while the outer bristles, being soft, remove stains near the gumline. Variable sonic oscillation changes the brushing angle to help keep the bristles moving across difficult areas.
