Rockstar Games has finally shown GTA 6 in detail, giving fans a closer look at its characters, map, missions, cars, and the living world of Vice City.
Since more than one and a half years without having an official preview of the game, fans have got something big from GTA 6 to see. On 27th of August, 2026, Rockstar Games put out 26 minute extended look video on Netflix and then on YouTube of their highly awaited game.
For many people, this was the first time that they got to see what GTA 6 is like. The video had car chases, shoot outs, robberies, dialogues, various locations and many new gameplay elements. It also came shortly after unauthorized gameplay clips were leaked online, something Rockstar said was heartbreaking to see.
Jason and Lucia are the main focus
One of the biggest parts of the new footage was the relationship between the game's two main characters, Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos.
They form a criminal couple whose story has been compared to the legendary duo of Bonnie and Clyde. The players will be able to control both these individuals and alternate between them at some point in the game. It has also been revealed that their relationship may be affected by what the players do. Players can even choose not to build their relationship further.
Why does the world feel more alive?
The new footage suggests that Rockstar has focused heavily on making the world feel realistic and active. GTA 6 takes place in Leonida, a fictional state inspired by Florida. Its main city, Vice City, is reportedly around twice the size of Los Santos from GTA 5. The world includes busy city streets, beaches, apartment buildings, rooftop bars, underground clubs, rural areas and alligator-filled marshes. The game also includes different types of people, wildlife and unusual events inspired by Florida culture.
NPCs can do more than just stand alone
Another interesting change involves NPCs, the people who live and work in the game's world. Jason and Lucia can interact with people they meet, including greeting them. Players can also pet dogs, while some NPCs may react when a crime happens around them.
In one scene, a store employee fights back when Lucia attempts a robbery. This suggests that characters in GTA 6 may respond more naturally instead of simply watching the player commit crimes. Even stealing a car has changed. Players may have to complete a quick action before successfully taking a vehicle. Some cars can also have GPS trackers that alert the police, forcing players to escape quickly or abandon the vehicle.
GTA 6 still has the classic grand theft auto formula
Despite all these changes, GTA 6 remains familiar to fans of the series. The preview showed armed robberies, car chases, criminal activities, dark humor and satire about American culture. Rockstar also appears to be expanding gameplay ideas introduced in Red Dead Redemption 2, including systems that can affect how characters view the player.
In addition to this, GTA 6 will also come with a unique slow motion shooting ability that resembles the Dead Eye feature found in Red Dead Redemption. As Business Fortune observes, GTA 6 will be released on November 19 as a single-player game. No details have been given by Rockstar Games regarding an upcoming online mode.
