Park Systems has acquired Rocky Mountain Nanotechnology to strengthen nanotechnology capabilities, secure AFM probe supply and to develop advanced research and measurement tools.

Park Systems Corp. has acquired Rocky Mountain Nanotechnology LLC, marking an important expansion of its atomic force microscopy (AFM) capabilities. The deal brings AFM probe manufacturing, a key part of nanoprobing and electrical measurement systems, directly under Park Systems’ control for the first time.

Rocky Mountain Nanotechnology (RMN) is known for producing ultra-high-purity solid platinum and platinum-iridium AFM probes. Founded in 2003 by Clayton Williams, the company has built a strong reputation for its precision-engineered probes, with tip radii as small as 10 nanometers. These probes are widely used in advanced AFM applications, including Conductive AFM, Electrostatic Force Microscopy, and Kelvin Probe Force Microscopy, among others.

According to Sang-il Park, the acquisition aligns with the company’s long-term strategy. He noted that RMN’s probe technology complements Park Systems’ advanced electrical measurement tools and next-generation nanoprobing systems currently under development. By bringing probe production in-house, the company aims to secure a stable supply of high-performance components critical to its innovations.

As part of the integration plan, Park Systems intends to improve nanotechnology capabilities by establishing a dedicated probe production facility in South Korea through a technology transfer from RMN’s U.S. operations. During this transition, RMN’s Salt Lake City facility will continue full production to ensure uninterrupted supply for its global customer base, which includes leading universities and research institutions.

This partnership opens new opportunities for RMN, allowing its technology to reach a broader market and support more advanced applications. Park Systems also confirmed that existing customers will continue to receive products as usual, while new probe offerings are expected under the combined organization.

With the acquisition, Park Systems Corp. is positioning itself to strengthen control over a critical part of the AFM ecosystem while expanding its innovation pipeline. As Business fortune observes the integration of Rocky Mountain Nanotechnology LLC is expected to improve supply stability, accelerate product development, and support next-generation research tools in advanced microscopy.
