TAF Industries partners with Summa Defense to explore joint Europe drone production under Build with Ukraine initiative, aiming to scale manufacturing in Europe for Ukraine and allies.
Ukrainian drone manufacturer TAF Industries has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Finland’s defense company Summa Defense to expand Europe drone production. The agreement focuses on joint manufacturing and possible future collaboration using Finland’s industrial infrastructure and technology ecosystem.
The signing took place during TAF Industries’ Demo Day event, where the company showcased its latest drone systems and operational use cases. Representatives from the defense sector attended the event, highlighting growing international interest in battlefield drone technologies. The agreement is non-binding, which means it does not lock either side into a final commitment. Instead, it serves as a framework for evaluating how collaboration could work in practice.
The partnership is part of the broader Build with Ukraine initiative. The goal of this program is to help Ukrainian defense companies scale production outside the country by working with international partners. Under the MoU, both companies will explore setting up production capacity in Finland. “We are creating a powerful alliance to strengthen the military potential of Ukraine and Finland," says TAF Industries CEO Volodymyr Zinovsky.
TAF Industries has become one of Ukraine’s key suppliers of unmanned aerial systems for frontline use. Its portfolio includes FPV drones for precision strikes, interceptors, communication repeaters, and fixed-wing reconnaissance drones designed for battlefield conditions.
Summa Defense already has experience working with Ukrainian partners in military drone production. In 2024, it was involved in joint ventures with several Ukrainian technology firms. In December 2025, its subsidiary Summa Drones Oyj delivered the first batch of Zeus drones to the Ukrainian Armed Forces and announced plans to scale industrial production of combat-tested systems in 2026.
The new partnership is expected to strengthen Finland’s defense manufacturing capabilities while also supporting Ukraine’s operational needs. It also aligns with TAF Industries’ wider strategy of building production partnerships across Europe. The company has already signed similar agreements with German firms Thyra and Wingcopter, and up to ten joint drone production facilities are expected to be developed across Europe this year.
If implemented, as Business Fortune observes, the collaboration could significantly expand Europe’s capacity to produce military drones for Ukraine and allied defense forces.
