Nazara Technologies acquires a 50% stake in Bluetile Games and BestPlay for $100.3M, expanding its global gaming reach with AI-driven capabilities.
Nazara Technologies Limited today announced that its wholly owned subsidiary, Nazara Technologies UK Limited, has finalized agreements to purchase a 50% controlling stake in Bluetile Games and BestPlay Systems S.L. for USD 100.3 million (INR 918 crores).
Bluetile offers a wide range of social and casual mobile games that are popular throughout the world. With around 375 million downloads and 22 million monthly active players across 17 live games, the platform has attained global size. In addition to adding 2.2 million monthly active users, BestPlay, the company's in-house incentivized engagement platform, serves as an integrated player acquisition, retention, and cross-promotion engine for its entire game portfolio.
According to Nazara Technologies Chief Executive Officer Nitish Mittersain, the acquisition adds significant synergies to its worldwide gaming platform and delivers demonstrated expertise in game development, player engagement, and distribution. He continued by saying that the agreement is a step toward creating AI-enabled gaming companies and that AI is integrated as a competitive advantage.
Nazara will buy 50% of the company at first, with a call option to buy the remaining 50% by 2028 at a valuation based on 6.6 times trailing EBITDA. Performance-linked earn-outs are also included in the transaction. Citing Nazara's size, resources, and strategic know-how, Bluetile Games General Manager Raymond Stauffer stated that joining the company will assist speed growth and broaden its portfolio internationally.
Nazara believes the acquisition will give its worldwide gaming business a scalable platform for AI-enabled game development, publication, and distribution. It expects that BestPlay's rewarded engagement platform and Bluetile's AI-led development and live operations capabilities will collaborate with Nazara's publishing, intellectual property, and distribution ecosystem to improve the development and worldwide expansion of casual and social gaming titles.
