LeT IED Plot Near Red Fort Temple

Security tightened around Red Fort and Chandni Chowk temple after intelligence warned of possible Lashkar-e-Taiba terror attack.

A temple in the crowded Chandni Chowk neighborhood is suspected of being the target of a potential terror attack close to the historic Red Fort, according to new information that has prompted security agencies to issue a high alert in the nation's capital.

Intelligence sources claim that Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), a terrorist organization based in Pakistan, has maintained a watch on important religious locations in and around the Red Fort and also in portions of Chandni Chowk. There is a suspicion that the group is planning an IED strike in the area.

There is information that LeT is plotting a major attack in India and attempting to avenge the February 6 blast at a mosque in Islamabad, Pakistan. Many of the country’s large temples that attract many pilgrims will be targets.

Delhi's Red Fort is on a bomb alert. The Chandni Chowk temple is an obvious target for terrorists. Lashkar-e-Taiba is preparing an IED attack. They plan a major terrorist attack in India to avenge the mosque blast in Islamabad.

Security has been increased in Old Delhi in high-risk areas, such as busy market areas and places of worship. There is more patrolling by security agencies and increased monitoring at and around the Red Fort.

The warning comes months after the horrific car bomb exploded on November 10, 2025, near the Red Fort, killing 12 people. The car was parked at Gate No. 1 of the Red Fort Metro Station when it exploded, igniting many cars nearby and causing widespread panic.
