PolyU MSc Students Solve Real Challenges in Sports Tourism

Students gain hands-on experience solving industry problems in a 13-week program bridging classroom learning with corporate travel and sports tourism.

The partnership between CSTS Enterprises and Connexus Travel established the Master of Science (MSc) Consultancy Project at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) to offer students a unique and exciting experience through an innovative 13-week master’s program that started on January 2026. Students from PolyU will be presented with real-life business scenarios encountered in the sports tourism and corporate travel sectors, allowing students to apply their academic learnings to solve real problems within the industry.

PolyU students participating in the project include those pursuing International Hospitality Management and International Event Management. Through consulting teams, students will provide CSTS Enterprises and Connexus Travel with an improvement to their respective service offerings. Students will conduct market research, analyze operational statistics, identify trends, and provide recommendations to improve overall performance of CSTS Enterprises and Connexus Travel, thereby enhancing their experience in corporate travel and sports tourism.

Students are provided with an opportunity to develop skills in strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making in a highly competitive and rapidly evolving industry through active engagement with the projects of CSTS Enterprises and Connexus Travel.

According to a PolyU representative, through this partnership, they are able to assist students in bridging the disconnect from what they learn in class versus how they can apply this knowledge in the workplace. The students are able to contribute positively to the solutions of the business challenges of two leading travel companies while learning about how the travel industry operates.

The Master of Science (M.Sc.) Consultancy Project also highlights the growing recognition of corporate travel and sports tourism as industries that are rapidly changing and constantly changing as consumer needs change.
