UAE Marks 54 Years with Focus on Economic, Social, and Technological Growth

UAE’s National Day report emphasizes achievements in effectiveness, technology, clean energy, smart cities, and international leadership initiatives.

The GCC Statistical Centre (GCC-Stat) celebrated the 54th UAE National Day with a special publication that highlighted the country's most remarkable social and economic achievements.

The UAE's strong social fabric is proven by its ranking of first regionally and seventh globally in terms of social unity. It also highlighted that the UAE's economic policy follows a clear path beginning with income diversification, moving toward a knowledge-based economy and developing into advanced futuristic sectors.

The introduction of the UAE National Strategy for AI 2031 to position technology as an essential driver of growth. Along with horizontal plans for the development of smart cities in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Fujairah through 2040, it included long-term food and water security plans that extend to 2036 and 2051 as well as increases in technology, space, clean energy and advanced industries.

In terms of worldwide effectiveness, the UAE has made major advances, placing among the top five in 444 indicators, leading the world in 223 indicators and ranking fifth worldwide in overall competitiveness for 2025. For the fourth year in a row, the country came in first in the world for entrepreneurship and ninth in soft power.

According to the publication, the UAE's sovereign wealth funds are among the strongest in the world, serving not only as asset management entities but also as strategic tools for long-term economic resilience and security.

With more than AED 600 billion set aside for renewable energy through 2050 and a national green hydrogen policy aiming for production of 15 million tonnes by 2050, the UAE is continuing to make significant investments in the world's clean energy transition. The country ranks sixth worldwide in talent supporting the green change.
