Business Fortune- Numerical Raises $35M Series B

Mayfield and leading investors support Numeral's expansion of its AI-powered automation platform, which helps more than 2,000 SaaS and e-commerce companies streamline complicated tax returns in more than 60 countries.

Numeral, a sales tax compliance platform driven by AI that caters to SaaS and e-commerce businesses, has secured more funds to grow its automation-based offerings. In a Series B round headed by Mayfield, the firm has raised $35 million. Benchmark, Uncork Capital, Y Combinator, and Mantis have all contributed to the fund. In addition to earlier rounds, Numeral has now raised $57 million.

Founded in 2023 by CTO Matt DuVall, a former employee of Stripe and Notion, and CEO Sam Ross, Numeral helps businesses navigate the incredibly complex and quickly changing sales tax market. The company's platform automates every stage of the compliance process, including nexus identification, registration, filing, remittance, and management of exemption certificates. It guarantees error-free filing, streamlines pricing, and offers white-glove service.

The extra money will be utilized to advance product development, accelerate global growth, and strengthen Numeral's AI-powered automation capabilities. The firm now serves over 2,000 brands, including Ridge, Eight Sleep, Graza, Grüns, and Manus, and supports compliance in over 60 countries.

Sales tax is a costly and challenging burden for businesses. The United States has over 11,000 tax jurisdictions, each with its own set of rules and deadlines. The first half of 2025 alone had around 400 rate fluctuations. Even small businesses sometimes have to register and file in dozens of states while balancing quarterly, yearly, and monthly filings.

Numerical is automating sales tax compliance, one of the most tedious and mistake-prone tasks in finance, according to Mayfield partner Sri Pangulur. Modern e-commerce and SaaS companies can now grow with confidence because of their AI-first platform, which removes the hassle of monitoring hundreds of tax jurisdictions that are always changing. They are happy to be in charge of their Series B and support their goal of being the world's most intelligent sales tax system on record.

As operators, they experienced the agony of sales tax firsthand, according to Numeral CEO Sam Ross: missing filings, lost hours, and continual second-guessing. To completely remove that friction, we created Numeral. Finance teams can concentrate on moving the company ahead rather than figuring out tax laws thanks to this support, which enables them to continue pushing the limits of automation.

"Kudos to the Numeral team," said Ridge CFO Avi Golan. They maintain Ridge compliance nationwide and have created an amazing platform. He finds it surprising that they didn't migrate sooner, and it's been a welcome change.
