Encounter Erupts in J&K After Shopian Lashkar Gunbattle

On Thursday morning, there was an encounter breaks between police and terrorists in the Awantipora, Jammu and Kashmir suburb of Nader, Tral.

Three Lashkar-e-Taiba-affiliated terrorists were slain in an encounter in Shopian, South Kashmir, on Tuesday, according to a report from ANI's source. Two of the three terrorists connected to Lashkar-e-Taiba have been confirmed to have been identified.

In Keller's Shukroo woodland in the Shopian district, three terrorists were slain. Sources claim that Shahid Kuttay, a native of Chotipora Heerpora in Shopian and the son of Mohd Yousuf Kuttay, was one of the terrorists. He participated in the April 8, 2024, gunfire incident at the Danish Resort in Srinagar, which injured two German visitors and one chauffeur. He was a ‘Category A’ Lashkar-e-Taiba operator. On March 8, 2023, he joined the terrorist organization.

Kuttay was suspected of being involved in the February 3, 2025, murder of Territorial Army personnel at Behibagh in Kulgam, as well as the May 18, 2024, murder of a BJP Sarpanch in Heerpora.

Adnan Shafi Dar, son of Mohd Shafi Dar, who lived in Wanduna Melhora in Shopian, was the other terrorist who was identified. He was a category C LeT operator who joined the terrorist group on October 18, 2024. On October 18, 2024, he participated in the murder of non-local laborers in Wachi in Shopian. Though the last terrorist's identity has not been confirmed yet.
