SPML Infra joins forces with Energy Vault to fast-track Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) deployments in India.
The world leader in sustainable energy storage solutions, Energy Vault, today announced that it has inked a new licensing and royalty deal with SPML Infra Limited, one of India's top publicly traded infrastructure development firms that specialize in the country's energy and water infrastructure. The partnership is anticipated to expedite the production and implementation of Energy Vault's B-VAULT BESS technology in the Indian market, in conjunction with the company's VaultOS EMS software.
With a minimum volume of 500 MWh over the next 12 months and a minimum targeted BESS volume of 30-40+ GWh to be manufactured over the next 10 years, this agreement is anticipated to facilitate multi-gigawatt hours (GWh) of Energy Vault BESS deployments, which will help India's renewable energy scale-up and energy storage needs.
Through this collaboration, Energy Vault and SPML will provide industry-leading competitiveness in India's expanding energy storage sector by utilizing the cost advantages of localized manufacturing and SPML's extensive local market knowledge. In addition to long-term recurring royalty revenue streams, Energy Vault will get upfront license payments under the agreement.
