Sify Launches South India’s Largest AI-Ready Data Center

Setting a standard for AI infrastructure and digital development in Tamil Nadu, Sify Infinit Spaces opens an eco-friendly data center in Siruseri for ₹1,882 crore.

The largest data center complex in South India designed for AI was inaugurated on Thursday in Sipcot Siruseri, Chennai, by the Chennai-based operator Sify Infinit Spaces. Of the ₹2,500 crore the company committed to at the previous fiscal year's Global Investors Meet, ₹1,882 crore has already been invested in Tamil Nadu.

This facility is the only data center in India featuring an on-site open cable landing station, which enhances network performance and provides global connectivity, with a future capacity of 130 megawatts (MW).

Sify aims to power the Siruseri data center entirely with renewable energy and operate it using sustainable building management practices, thereby setting a new benchmark for environmentally responsible digital infrastructure as part of its longer-term environmental goals.

According to the company, this platinum-rated Green Data Center, which has garnered four certifications from the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC), underscores Sify's strong commitment to energy efficiency and sustainability.

The facility was inaugurated by Tamil Nadu's chief minister, MK Stalin. This project, as stated, is a significant milestone for the development of India's digital infrastructure and serves strategically in furthering the Tamil Nadu government's vision to position the state as a premier location for data centers.

Raju Vegesna, the managing director and chairman of Sify Technologies, pointed out that the company is not only building digital infrastructure but also a climate of opportunity, with their overall investment already exceeding ₹10,000 crore from the initial commitment of ₹2,500 crore.

Furthermore, he mentioned that as this facility expands, it aims to generate 10,000 direct and indirect job opportunities. This data center acts as a crucial digital gateway for enterprises and government bodies seeking to leverage cloud, AI, and high-speed data solutions. It represents more than just infrastructure; they take pride in contributing to India's data-driven future and supporting Tamil Nadu's digital ambitions.
