ChatGPT’s new image generator, famed for Ghibli-style art, has sparked a viral trend with 700M images created since March.
Among the most well-liked technology of the AI chatbot since its 2022 launch is ChatGPT's new image-generation capability, which is fueling the viral Ghibli AI craze.
According to Brad Lightcap, the chief operating officer (COO) of OpenAI, since ChatGPT was updated with the image generator powered by OpenAI's GPT-4o model on March 25, more than 700 million photos have been created by more than 130 million users.
Crucially, Lightcap disclosed that India has emerged as one of ChatGPT's fastest-growing markets. As they work to serve everyone, they value the followers' patience. Lightcap posted on X on Thursday, March 3, saying, the staff is still working nonstop to fulfill the demands of its followers.
After users learned that OpenAI's new picture generator could convert real-world photos into AI-rendered visuals in the style of Japanese animation studio Studio Ghibli, the tool's popularity skyrocketed. However, ChatGPT's capacity and resources are under a great deal of strain as a result of the spike in new user signups.
Altman had previously stated last week that the company's graphics processing units (GPUs) were melting due to the consumer response to the picture generator. He said earlier this week that because the AI firm is trying to scale up its infrastructure to match the fast-increasing user demand, the picture generator's popularity may cause product delays and temporarily impaired services.
