This release was made soon after ChatGPT received a comparable memory upgrade from OpenAI.
With the help of a new "memory" function, xAI's Grok chatbot can now recall specifics from previous exchanges and provide more tailored answers. Grok may learn user preferences over time thanks to this function, which enhances suggestions.
Because Grok's memory is accessible, users may see what the bot remembers and decide whether to remove all of the material it has kept or just certain memories. Users in the EU and the UK cannot use this functionality, which is presently in beta on Grok.com and the Grok applications for iOS and Android. Through the settings menu, users may turn off the memory function.
Additionally, xAI is attempting to add this memory functionality to Grok on X. This release follows OpenAI's recent release of a memory upgrade that enabled ChatGPT to access all of its stored memories and previous discussions. All Plus and Pro users worldwide, with the exception of those in the EEA, UK, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, and Liechtenstein, may now access the upgrade, which is intended to enhance the AI's capacity to provide context-aware replies.
Google unveiled a similar feature in February, allowing Gemini to remember previous conversations and offer more beneficial answers. Gemini utilizes pertinent chat history to produce its response, regardless of whether you're inquiring about a previously discussed topic or want a synopsis of a past exchange.
