A Chinese guy has filed a depression lawsuit against a gaming firm after being humiliated by hundreds of "slaps" in a game. The man, who has been a 15-year enthusiast of Three Kingdoms Kill Online, said that the game damaged his self-esteem by essentially slapping him over 4,800 times. A report by Xin Huanghe claims that the individual, who goes by the alias Qiaoben, is the highest-ranking player in the game.
In the online game, Qiaoben saw that his opponents would hurl objects like eggs and straw sandals at his avatar after every victory. He said that they produced reactions akin to virtual face slaps. According to the number of games he played, the individual stated that throughout the previous six months, he was struck by these objects over 4,800 times.
Through in-game activities, you can get the eggs and straw sandals for free, or you can purchase them for a little fee. In a recent match, Qiaoben, who recognized that his opponents were tossing these objects as a method to express their annoyance after losing, claimed he had to put up with a virtual slap that lasted over ninety seconds. But he claimed that because all of the players could witness the slaps, his dignity was violated.
Notably, Qiaoben had already filed many unresolved complaints with customer support before resorting to the drastic move, so the lawsuit wasn't his first option.
