With the agreement to supply Oracle with a cluster of 30,000 GPUs for AI training and research, AMD has achieved a huge victory.
In both the desktop and server industries, AMD has been increasing its market share against its rival Intel. The business has been moving more and more in the AI space, hoping to begin to compete with Nvidia.
During the company's Q2 earnings call, Oracle Chairman and CTO Larry Ellison disclosed the agreement, saying that AMD had signed a multi-billion dollar contract in Q3 to develop a cluster of 30,000 of their most recent MI355X GPUs. All four top cloud security firms—CrowdStrike, Cyber Reason, Newfold Digital, and Palo Alto—selected Oracle Cloud. But perhaps most significantly, Oracle has created a new product dubbed the AI Data Platform. This platform makes it possible for a large number of database users to evaluate the data held in millions of Oracle databases by using the most recent AI models from OpenAI, XAI, and Meta.
All current data may be automatically transformed into the vector format that AI models understand by utilizing Oracle Version 23 AI's vector capabilities. This enables those models to learn, comprehend, and evaluate every facet of a business or government organization, rapidly unleashing the value of data while maintaining its security and privacy.
Oracle's focus on delivering safe and effective AI clusters has helped it make significant strides against big cloud competitors like AWS, Microsoft, and Google. Ellison mentioned that benefit, emphasizing about the business's involvement in the Stargate AI initiative.
