With this expansion, Colt DCS will have the UK's largest multi-building data center campus, solidifying its position as one of the largest sites in the country.
In order to accommodate growing client demand, Colt Data Centre Services (Colt DCS) has bought property adjacent to its current location in Hayes, West London, which will more than double the capacity of the London Hayes Data Centre complex. The campus will rank among the largest in the UK with this expansion, according to the provider of large enterprise and hyperscale data center solutions.
According to Colt, the first phase of the campus is progressing quickly and will have two buildings on the first site, with a combined capacity of 60 MW for IT. Phase one of the construction project is anticipated to be finished in Q3 2025; work started last year.
In order to continue the existing development and more than quadruple the capacity of the London Hayes Data Center campus, Colt DCS has now planned an extension and obtained a second site next to its current location. The official publication contains no information regarding the projected expansion stage's specifications.
According to an official announcement from Colt DCS, this will make the entire site one of the biggest in the UK and the largest multi-building data center campus in Colt DCS's global estate. Importantly, Colt DCS has also acquired power — based on renewable energy — to supply the capacity needed for the new location in addition to the land purchase. The larger campus of Colt DCS will be ideal for meeting the increasing demand for the capability of high-density, large-scale AI workloads.
