Interview Highlights
Ms. Moscati, today Copytalk is recognized as a trusted leader in secure transcription, particularly within the financial sector. But if we go all the way back to the beginning, what motivated Copytalk's founding? And in such a highly specialized and compliance-driven industry, what were some of the main obstacles you and the company had to overcome to establish a presence?
Copytalk's origin story is a classic entrepreneurial tale: it began with a spark of inspiration in the shower. This is fitting, as the idea was to create a solution for people to take notes and update records when they couldn't sit down at a computer. Initially developed as a general mobile dictation tool, it quickly found its niche within the advisory sector, where its ease of use and speed not only boosted productivity but also helped enhance compliance.
As the service gained traction and we began focusing more on the financial services industry, we recognized the need to expand our information security program and compliance initiatives to meet industry standards. Copytalk utilized feedback from our customers and collaborated with organizations like Shared Assessments to strengthen our information security program, which has since become a key asset for our company.
Copytalk has received praise for its dedication to security and privacy. Could you provide more details on the precise steps the company takes to guarantee that customer information is kept private and secure?
In the Financial Services Industry, PHI & PII are critical components. We employ an array of security and privacy protections. We have environmental controls, strict personal device and data retention policies, robust encryption solutions, and external and internal security audits on the shortlist. This allows our clients to be efficient, be more effective in documenting the “why,” and feel confident that our security and privacy protocols are second to none in the industry. It sets the standards for adherence to compliance mandates.
Copytalk places a strong emphasis on human transcriptionists at a time when automation is common. In the area of financial services, what benefits do you think human transcribing has over automated solutions?
One important thing to remember about financial services is that, at the end of the day, they exist to help people achieve stability and comfort. That requires a level of adaptability since each person’s idea of stability and comfort is different. The same goes for transcription: the more adaptable your solution, the better. Additionally, having human oversight on automated solutions has been touted in many recent articles as very necessary.
In order to preserve the quality and applicability of transcription, how does Copytalk make sure that its transcriptionists are knowledgeable with financial terminology?
Copytalk’s transcription operations team regularly reviews and updates internal documentation and training materials to provide our staff with quality references for financial terminology. This ensures that they can accurately recognize and implement these terms in their transcription work. When we onboard a new enterprise client, we request specific terminology relevant to their field and train our operations personnel on these words and phrases.
Copytalk offers several flagship services, including MobileScribe and DigiScribe. Could you elaborate on how these solutions cater to the particular requirements of professionals working in regulated fields?
MobileScribe is the product with the most recognizable DNA to our initial offering. It allows users to record their single-person notes via their mobile devices, using either a phone call or the Copytalk+ app. Transcriptionists process the dictation, and we deliver the results via email and/or CRM integration for a flat rate.
Digiscribe is for longer transcriptions such as presentations that may need regulatory approval prior to presenting to the public.
Given the speed at which technology is developing, particularly in fields like AI and automation, how is Copytalk changing to incorporate contemporary tools while adhering to its fundamental principle of human-powered transcription?
Copytalk is committed to continuously evaluating and enhancing our efficiency and security, which has become a defining characteristic of our company. Our employees are essential to our operations, and we strive to provide them with the tools they need to succeed.
Are there any upcoming services or features that Copytalk plans to introduce to further enhance client experience and meet emerging industry demands?
Copytalk has expanded the capabilities of our Dictation Guide feature to facilitate the creation of formatted reports and structured data. The Copytalk+ presents users with a series of short questions which Copytalk can then convert into structured data or formatted reports. Copytalk, using the Copytalk+ app, can help you map complex data collection into a simple series of questions that deliver the data you want in the format you need.
Would you like us to highlight something important happening in your company that we may have missed asking about?
Copytalk has consistently sought new opportunities to enhance voice-to-data services where we can deliver value. Speaking is often easier than typing, and Copytalk serves as your connection to convert spoken words into data for back-office applications or formatted reports tailored to your needs.
