Shailendra Kumar Daily Voice highlights why Indian equities continue to perform despite elevated crude oil prices, with expectations of strong FY27 corporate earnings and resilient domestic fundamentals.
Shailendra Kumar Daily Voice: Optimistic on India's Earnings Outlook
Shailendra Kumar Daily Voice has struck an optimistic tone on the Indian stock market, stating that elevated crude oil prices may act as a macroeconomic headwind but are unlikely to derail equity market gains. Shailendra Kumar, Chief Investment Officer at Narnolia Financial Services, expects Indian companies to post double digit earnings growth in FY27, supported by improving domestic indicators such as credit growth, GST collections, automobile sales and cement dispatches.
High Oil Prices Not a Major Roadblock
Kumar believes that while Brent crude hovering around $100 per barrel remains a concern, history suggests that higher oil prices do not necessarily prevent equity markets from delivering positive returns. He pointed out that the Nifty recovered strongly even when crude prices remained elevated earlier this year.
"Higher oil prices can act as a macro headwind, but they do not necessarily prevent equity markets from delivering positive returns, particularly when supported by improving domestic fundamentals and earnings expectations," said Shailendra Kumar, Chief Investment Officer at Narnolia Financial Services.
FY27 Earnings Momentum Expected to Improve
According to Kumar, leading economic indicators continue to signal healthy business activity. He expects earnings momentum to strengthen further during the second half of FY27, resulting in robust year on year corporate profit growth across several sectors.
Quick Commerce Valuations under Watch
While acknowledging the strong financial performance of quick commerce companies, especially Blinkit, Kumar noted that the sector's future performance will depend more on competition than valuation. He said new entrants and pricing strategies could determine whether companies maintain healthy profit margins.
Sectoral Outlook Remains Positive
The June quarter earnings season has produced mixed results, with banking and IT reporting varied performances. However, Kumar highlighted automobiles, specialty chemicals and industrial companies as bright spots. Management commentaries across industries also indicate confidence in stronger demand, improving margins and a better second half of the fiscal year.
On Indian IT, Kumar believes the next phase of enterprise AI adoption could significantly benefit IT services companies. He also noted that attractive dividend yields above 3% make the sector appealing for long term investors.
Regarding Donald Trump's renewed tariff threats, Kumar believes companies and policymakers are now better prepared to handle geopolitical uncertainties after navigating similar disruptions over the past 18 months.
Business Fortune is of the view that Indian equities remain on a strong growth path, supported by robust earnings despite elevated crude oil prices.
