K-Pop Demon Hunters Wins Golden Globes, Breaks Netflix Records, and Sparks Sequel Buzz

The Netflix animated hit clinched two Golden Globes, topped global music charts, and became the platform’s most-watched movie ever, increasing Oscar hopes and sequel talks.

K-Pop Demon Hunters, an animated Netflix movie, won two Golden Globes on Monday, continuing its successful awards season run. The Maggie Kang-directed movie defeated Arco, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle, Elio, Little Amélie or the Character of Rain and Zootopia to win Best Animated Feature. 2. Golden, its popular song, won the Best Song award at the event.

K-Pop Demon Hunters, which was released in June 2025, took up two awards last week at the 31st Annual Critics Choice. Golden is currently considered one of the early favorites in the Oscar race. Also the movie's soundtrack received five Grammy Award nominations.

At the 2025 New York Film Critics Circle Awards, K-Pop Demon Hunters defeated competitors like Arco, Elio and In Your Dreams to win Best Animated Movie. Also, the movie has surpassed Dwayne Johnson, Ryan Reynolds and Gal Gadot's Red Notice to become the most watched Netflix movie ever.

The main character of K Pop Demon Hunters is Huntrix, a female band whose members maintain their pop star reputations while working covertly as demon hunters. They take on the competing band Saja Boys, whose members turn out to be demons.

Arden Cho, Ahn Hyo-seop, Lee Byung-hun, and Joel Chrim Booster are among the vocalists. A sequel to the movie is anticipated after its record breaking performance. Maggie Kang, the director, has alluded to a sequel and US media reports claim that initial discussions are already in progress.
