Grab Acquires Infermove for AI Deliveries

Singapore-based Grab acquires robotics startup Infermove in January 2026 to boost automated first- and last-mile logistics using AI-driven delivery robots.

Grab Holdings, a logistics and super-app company based in Singapore, has acquired China-based AI and robotics developer Infermove in a strategic move to improve its automated delivery operations across Southeast Asia.

The acquisition, which was made public in early January 2026 aims to improve Grab's first-mile and last mile delivery capabilities, which are important areas of its growing logistics business. Grab stated that it intends to advance Infermove's robotics technology from Singapore and explore how autonomous robots could improve customer and delivery partner experiences.

Aaron Lu established Infermove in 2021 with a focus on mobile manipulation robots, such as sidewalk delivery robots and personal mobility machines, and autonomous driving systems for complicated, real-world scenarios. The company's technology uses real-world driving data from non-motorized vehicles, like wheelchairs and electric scooters, to teach robots that can handle difficult delivery situations.

Prior to the acquisition, Infermove had increased its commercial reach through experimental projects in foreign countries like Singapore, Japan, and Australia, as well as partnerships with major Chinese delivery platforms. Based on reports, its revenue has increased dramatically in recent years, and forecasts indicate that it will continue to expand in 2026. Grab withheld the deal's financial details. After the acquisition, Infermove's founder, Aaron Lu, will continue to run it independently and report to Grab's CTO

The move shows Grab's continued efforts to increase automation and robots in order to meet growing demand in the on-demand delivery sector and rising labor expenses. According to analysts, AI and robotics are becoming more crucial for preserving service effectiveness and a competitive advantage in the logistics industry.
