Etihad Airways plans to launch direct flights between the UAE and Calgary becoming the first airline to launch nonstop flights.
Etihad Airways, the national airline of the UAE will become the first airline to launch nonstop flights between the UAE and Calgary. With the service launching on 3 November 2026, the new route will establish a direct link between the Middle East and Western Canada, representing a significant expansion of the airline’s long-haul network.
The new service directly links Abu Dhabi and Calgary, improving economic ties and creating opportunities for business and leisure travellers. It connects Abu Dhabi’s growing economy and culture with Calgary’s energy, innovation, and manufacturing sectors, enabling corporate travel, trade, and collaboration. Leisure travellers gain direct access to Abu Dhabi’s landmarks and resorts, while travellers from the UAE and across Etihad’s global network can explore Calgary’s vibrant city life.
Chief Executive Officer at Etihad Airways, Antonoaldo Neves expressed his excitement bringing together two remarkable places. For Canadian travellers, it opens direct access to Abu Dhabi’s rich culture and year-round experiences, while guests from the UAE and across their network gain seamless access to Calgary and the natural beauty of Western Canada. It is a route designed to stimulate two-way tourism and deepen ties between the two regions, he said.
Chris Dinsdale, President and CEO of Calgary Airports, said that Calgary Airports is proud to partner with Etihad Airways to link two great cities. This direct route is key to connecting their region’s leisure and business travellers to important locations in the Middle East, as well as a wealth of linked destinations in Africa, Asia and around the world.
Etihad's Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, which has the Etihad airline's newest, award-winning widebody Business and Economy cabins, will fly the route. Being one of the longest flights in its network, the aircraft is built for long-haul comfort, offers Etihad's trademark service, in-flight experience, and onboard hospitality.
