Business Fortune: Sophie Turner as Lara Croft

Amazon MGM releases the first official photo of Turner in classic Lara Croft gear, kicking off the highly anticipated Prime Video adaptation of the iconic video game franchise.

The first official photo of Sophie Turner as Lara Croft in the eagerly awaited live-action Tomb Raider television series was released by Amazon MGM Studios, signaling the beginning of work on the Prime Video version of the classic video game franchise. With the message, "Get your artifacts out," the image was posted on the streamer's social media accounts. Turner is seen wearing classic Lara Croft clothing, such as twin pistols, red sunglasses and adventure gear that are reminiscent of the character's original 1990s look, in Lara's on her way.

The ensemble cast, which includes Sigourney Weaver as Evelyn Wallis, Jason Isaacs as Atlas DeMornay, Martin Bobb-Semple as Zip and Bill Paterson as Winston, is led by Turner, who is best known for her breakthrough performance in Game of Thrones. Phoebe Waller-Bridge of Fleabag is the show's creator and writer. She also works with Chad Hodge as an executive producer and co-showrunner. The director and executive producer is Jonathan Van Tulleken.

Amazon MGM Studios, Crystal Dynamics and Story Kitchen are among the production companies involved in the project. Though a premiere date has not yet been set, the adaptation seeks to broaden the Tomb Raider universe for television. Fans' opinions on the first look have been separated; some have honored Turner's performance and appearance, while others have linked her to earlier Lara Croft portrayals.
