Season 5 cements the show’s worldwide supremacy, hitting record-breaking views and Top 10 rankings in 93 countries.
Stranger Things influence on culture over the past nine years is difficult to overlook as the Netflix phenomenon draws to a close, with the series finale scheduled for New Year's Evening.
Stranger Things' Season 5 will keep gaining network until three months after the New Year's Eve finale because Netflix measures its historic record ending 91 days after each title's last episodes are released. The season has a good chance of ranking first in the first quarter of 2026.
Before it was even released, the fifth and final season helped the show set new audience records. It also had the largest opening week for an English language series on Netflix. The whole Stranger Things series has now surpassed one billion views, according to Netflix, less than a month after Season 5 Volume 1 and days before Volume 2.
For a moment, those seasons included the most watched scenes in the show's history: The first scene is when Nancy is possessed by Vecna in Season Four, Episode Seven. This is followed by the scene in Season three Episode eight, where Dustin and Suzie sing the song NeverEnding Story together.
Four weeks after Season 5 premiered, all five seasons of Stranger Things are still on the list, making it the first Netflix series to have four seasons in the Top 10 at once and the first to chart with five seasons. Additionally, the five seasons of the show have made the worldwide Netflix Top ten a total of 78 times since the Netflix Top 10 was introduced in 2021. Stranger Things has appeared on the Top ten lists of each of the 93 countries that were monitored at some time.
