PM Modi Gets Ethiopia’s Honour

Ethiopian PM Abiy Ahmed awarded PM Narendra Modi the Great Honour Nishan of Ethiopia for strengthening India–Ethiopia ties.

Ethiopia’s highest award The Great Honour Nishan of Ethiopia was presented to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday by his Ethiopian counterpart, Abiy Ahmed Ali. The first head of government in history to receive this honor is PM Modi.

According to the Ministry of External Affairs in New Delhi, Prime Minister Modi receives Ethiopia’s top honour for his outstanding leadership as a world statesman and for his remarkable contribution to improving the India-Ethiopia partnership.

It is a privilege for him to receive the Great Honour Nishan of Ethiopia, Modi wrote on X. He dedicates it to the 140 crore people of India.

PM Modi praises PM Abiy Ahmed Ali from the bottom of his heart. He asked Modi to travel to Ethiopia in their meeting at the G20 Summit in South Africa last month. How could he have dropped this invitation from my friend? After accepting Ethiopia highest award, Modi stated that he decide on to visit Ethiopia soon.

Modi expressed gratitude for PM Abiy's leadership and his efforts to advance development and national unity. Also he emphasized the importance of knowledge for country building saying that it has been an honor for Indian educators to support Ethiopia's advancement and development for more than a century.

PM Modi also expressed his gratitude on behalf of the 1.4 billion Indians for receiving this honor and dedicated the award to all Ethiopians and Indians who maintained bilateral connections for generations. The award's appearance represents a turning point in Ethiopia and India's network, and in advancing the overall South's constructive agenda.
