Mauritius Telecom Announces Innovative Plan to Make Island a Digital Hub Linking Asia and Africa

To promote national digital transformation, the telecom behemoth initiates projects in connectivity, artificial intelligence, finance, and startups.

At the Mauritius Telecom Connect event on December 5, 2025, Mauritius Telecom presented a daring new strategy to accelerate the nation's digital transformation and establish Mauritius as a premier digital hub connecting Asia and Africa. The program lays out a thorough plan to improve financial services, technology, infrastructure, and innovation throughout the area.

Four important routes serve as the framework for the plan. To improve regional and global connectivity, the Connectivity Corridor focuses on growing fiber networks, implementing 5G-Advanced, and installing additional underwater cables. In order to assist artificial intelligence projects, the AI/Computer Corridor places a strong emphasis on advanced computing capabilities through GPU clusters, Tier IV data center growth, and sovereign cloud services.

The Innovation & Scaleup Corridor is intended to assist startups under the "Build in Mauritius, Scale across continents" program, giving business owners the resources and chances to expand throughout Asia and Africa.
