Lando Norris Clinches First F1 Title in Sensational Abu Dhabi Finale

The McLaren star secures the Drivers’ Championship, edging out Oscar Piastri and Max Verstappen in a tense season-ending showdown.

In the season's final Grand Prix at the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi on December 7 McLaren driver Lando Norris f1 champion defeating teammate Oscar Piastri and leading champion Max Verstappen with a secure 3^rd place finish.

The Briton finished third in the season two points behind race winners Verstappen and Piastri. All three of the podium had a chance to win the crown of World Champion at the beginning of the Grand Prix. If Verstappen had won the race and Norris had finished fourth or lower. Norris only needed to finish third or lower.

Norris had to place sixth or below for Oscar Piastri to win. However Norris first win McLaren's 17-year drivers' championship drought and became Britain's first world champion since Lewis Hamilton in 2020. Max Verstappen began the race in second place and was swiftly passed by Piastri on the first lap but the top three had a risk-free race thanks to the grid's lack of collisions and safety lando norris car.

After his first pit stop Norris had to deal with heavy traffic so it was still not the easiest of races. On Lap 24 Verstappen's Red Bull teammate Yuki Tsunoda tried to push him off the track but McLaren was perfect for both drivers again.

According to Zak Brown principal of the McLaren team that was exciting a little too exciting and awesome.

Last month McLaren headed by CEO Brown and team principal Andrea Stella won both constructors' crowns in Singapore. Since 1998 this is the first time the Papaya team has won both the drivers' and constructors' titles. George Russell of Mercedes came in 5th and Leclerc ended just outside the podium places.
