Indian PhD Student Shot Dead Near University of Toronto, Suspects Flee

According to an official declaration, police responded to a complaint for an unknown attack in the area of Old Kingston Road and Highland Creek Trail at three in the afternoon on Tuesday, 23 December 2025. Officers found a male victim who had been shot. Immediately, the victim was declared dead. Before the police arrived, the suspect or suspects left the area. Shivank Avasthi 20, of Toronto has been identified as the victim.
