On December 18, Miah Phillips, a former compliance chief at Apple UK, joined Fox Williams' Financial Services team to assist fintech and regulated businesses in navigating growing regulatory scrutiny and change.
Miah Phillips will join Fox Williams' Financial Services team as a partner on December 18. At a time when clients are managing considerable regulatory change and scrutiny, Miah's appointment deepens the firm's financial services and technology capabilities.
E-money and payments, consumer finance, financial crime, e-commerce, strategic alliances, and outsourcing agreements are all included in Miah's practice. She specializes in assisting clients in responding to complicated regulatory changes, such as PISA and DORA, as well as reforms about consumer credit and payments that would impact both new and current goods and services.
Miah has held top positions both in-house and in private practice, most recently at Apple as Chief Compliance Officer for the company's UK-regulated division. She has also held positions at Osborne Clarke, Paul Hastings, and Goldman Sachs.
Miah is aware of how difficult it is for clients to strike a balance between regulatory risk and the fintech industry's vision and speed. She has gained a reputation for her ability to translate regulatory needs into clear objectives and legal solutions that support delivery and safeguard the customer proposition, thanks to her tight collaboration with product and engineering teams, boards, and senior management.
Miah Phillips expressed his excitement about joining Fox Williams in a comment. He was intrigued by the chance to engage closely with ambitious, regulated companies on the practical realities of product development, licensing, risk management, and regulatory reform since the company has a solid reputation in the financial services and fintech industries. Having worked in-house for a large portion of his career, he has concentrated on collaborating with their clients to provide practical, scalable guidance that is in line with UX goals and keeps companies ahead of regulatory expectations.
Fintech and financial services are two of Fox Williams' most notable strengths, and they are expanding on that momentum, according to Senior Partner Gavin Foggo. As demands on boards, governance, and change management rise, Miah's unique combination of regulatory depth, practical product delivery, and compliance knowledge is exactly what businesses need.
This new partner is Fox Williams' ninth lateral hire in the past two years, demonstrating the company's intentional commitment to developing depth in complicated, high-value consulting work.
