New Frankfurt Data Center by Digital Realty Aims to Improve Capacity and Support Businesses with Consistent Digital Infrastructure.

Digital Realty started construction on FRA20, a new data center in Frankfurt, as it continues to grow in one of Europe's most significant centers for digital infrastructure. With 16 MW of IT capacity spread across 8,100 square meters, the facility is expected to go online in Q2 2027.

Digital Realty defined FRA20 in a press release as the most recent addition to Digital Park Fechenheim, an important multi-facility campus that is growing to meet Germany's growing need for cloud, AI, and interconnection services. When completed, the ability will contain 11 connected data centers with a combined capacity of 200 MW and an area of 90 thousand square meters. The Eiermann Building, which was converted for modern digital infrastructure, houses five of the facilities, including the recently built FRA18.

According to Volker Ludwig, senior vice president and managing director of Digital Realty in Central Europe, they are scaling up a futurist ecosystem to support their customers' most critical workloads with FRA20 and the current development of Digital Park Fechenheim.

Power-intensive machine learning applications will be supported by the new site's energy-efficient structure and advanced cooling systems, which were created for high-density and AI-optimized implementations. As part of an overall effort to decrease the environmental effect as demand for energy-hungry AI machinery increases, the company will match FRA20 with 100% renewable energy in keeping with its global sustainability commitments.

As data center operators compete to increase capacity throughout Europe's core markets, the introduction of FRA20 highlights Digital Realty's ongoing investment in Frankfurt.
