Business Fortune: Jonah Hill’s ‘Cut Off’ Cast Update

In a Warner Bros. movie filmed in California, Lane and Midler play their estranged parents, while Hill and Kristen Wiig star in a sibling comedy.

According to Deadline, Jonah Hill's most recent comedy for Warner Bros. Pictures, ‘Cut Off,’ has added Nathan Lane from Only Murders in the Building.

As previously stated, the cast consists of Hill and Kristen Wiig, along with Bette Midler, who only joined the project yesterday. The film, which centers on a wealthy couple of siblings (Hill and Wiig) who are estranged from their parents, will feature Lane as the father figure and Midler as his spouse.

In addition to producing with Matt Dines and Ali Goodwin under his Strong Baby label, Hill will direct a script that he co-wrote with Ezra Woods. The Warner Bros. project is being managed by Jesse Ehrman and Zach Hamby, and its global theatrical debut is set for July 17, 2026. As previously reported, a $10 million tax incentive will be provided for the production of the unusual movie that will be shot in California this fall.

In his career, Lane has starred in over 35 films, including two recent A24 releases (Beau Is Afraid and Dicks: The Musical), as well as classics like The Lion King, The Birdcage, and The Producers. He was nominated for eight Emmys and won for the first time a few years ago for a cameo in Hulu's Only Murders in the Building.

In addition to her recent television credits, which include HBO Max's The Gilded Age and Hulu's Mid-Century Modern, Lane has been nominated for two Golden Globes, a SAG Award, an American Comedy Award, and a Critics' Choice Lifetime Achievement Award. Monster, American Crime Story, Modern Family, Penny Dreadful: City of Angels and The Good Wife are among the shows with previous credits.
