In May, Delta will increase its European network and compete more fiercely with JetBlue at Logan by adding nonstop flights from Boston to Madrid and Nice.
Delta revealed plans to expand its European reach by adding flights to Madrid and Nice in the spring. Two months ago, Delta opened a new route from Boston to Milan and began daily service to Barcelona. According to Paul Baldoni, senior vice president of network planning for the Atlanta-based airline, they are strengthening their European network and upholding their dedication to offering a remarkable travel experience from beginning to end by launching nonstop service to Madrid and Nice.
From Boston, Delta will now fly to 12 locations throughout Europe. In the last 20 years, Delta has expanded its flight schedule from 25 to almost 70 locations across the globe. The trip to Nice will be the first time Boston will offer nonstop service to the French city. Service to Madrid and Nice is scheduled to commence on May 16 and 17, respectively.
The airline has put a lot of effort into expanding its footprint in Boston. Last year, the airline unveiled a 21,000-square-foot Sky Lounge in Logan’s Terminal E, complementing its expansion of European routes. The airline also introduced a 6,700-square-foot Delta One Lounge, reserved for its first-class travelers and select passengers flying in first or business class on partner-operated flights.
JetBlue and Delta are still vying for dominance at Logan Airport, with each airline currently operating 70 routes from the hub. Delta is focused on expansion in other regions, while JetBlue is focusing on expanding in the US and the Caribbean.
