Business Fortune- Paper Rex Wins Masters Toronto, Sets Sights on VCT Paris

After defeating Fnatic 3-1 in the Grand Finals on June 23, Paper Rex became victorious as the VALORANT Masters Toronto winners.

Paper Rex, who started their campaign in the Swiss Stage and fought their way into the Playoffs, was the third seed from VCT Pacific. Once there, they swept the top bracket in back-to-back sweeps, defeating Sentinels 2-0 after first defeating tournament favorites G2 Esports. They defeated Wolves Esports 2-0 in the upper bracket final to guarantee their place in the grand finals without dropping a single map.

However, Fnatic came into the competition as the top seed from VCT EMEA and was sent straight to the playoffs. They lost against Gen.G Esports 2–1 in the upper bracket quarterfinals, though, which ended their season. They then swept G2 Esports 2–0, defeated Sentinels 2–1, then pushed past Rex Regum Qeon 2–1 to make an outstanding lower bracket run. They defeated Wolves Esports 3-1 in the lower bracket finals to secure a rematch with Paper Rex in the grand finals.

With a strong start to the series, Fnatic won the first four rounds on Sunset. But Paper Rex immediately adjusted, putting together a strong run to end the half 8–4. With excellent cooperation and a seven-round haul, Fnatic recovered in the second half and almost tied the score. However, Paper Rex maintained composure and won five pivotal rounds to end the game 13–11 and gain the lead early.

With their win, Paper Rex earns US$350,000 and seven VCT points, securing the VALORANT Masters Toronto championship title and their first international VALORANT title.
