RVNL builds India’s first 3D-printed government structure at Parvatipuram station in Andhra Pradesh, setting a new benchmark in rapid and sustainable construction.
An innovative initiative for Indian Railways, RVNL finished building a 3D-printed Gangman Hut at the Parvatipuram station in less than 25 days. This creative effort is the first 3D-printed railway construction in AP and Indian Railways, according to the Navratna PSU of the Ministry of Railways. It was revealed on Thursday.
Trackmen, or gangmen, who do track maintenance, also have a place to work, a place to keep tools, and a place to sleep in the 1,076 square foot (100 square meters) hut. The station is located in the East Coast Railway Zone's Waltair Division and is a component of the ongoing third line development project between Vizianagaram and Titlagarh. This line of rail seeks to expand both freight and passenger capacity in light of the region's rising industrial activity.
Expanding on the idea, integrated lighting balances natural and artificial sources to increase user convenience and energy efficiency. In addition to serving as a facility for track-maintenance personnel, the hut represents a dedication to inclusive and gender-neutral field infrastructure design.
This project is the result of a larger national movement: With more than 152 railway and metro infrastructure projects under its belt, RVNL is a company known for adopting cutting-edge, environmentally friendly practices. Parvatipuram is home to India’s first 3D-printed government facility, while other notable examples include a demonstration hut in Kerala and a 3D-printed post office in Karnataka, both constructed using L&T’s technology.
