Changan Launches Thai Manufacturing with Rayong Plant Opening

Alongside the opening of its Rayong facility in Thailand, Changan Automobile held a ceremony to mark the achievement of a global total production milestone of 28.59 million cars.

The Rayong facility officially opened on November 8, 2023, less than two years after construction began. The facility, which was constructed with a total expenditure of around THB 10 billion, can presently produce 100,000 vehicles annually with plans to expand to 200,000 units in the future.

The factory uses cutting-edge technology, including solar power generation, rainwater collection, recycled airflow systems, virtual simulation, and a digital operating platform, all of which are guided by an intelligent and environmentally friendly design philosophy. These developments enhance production efficiency and lower energy usage per car.

The Rayong factory, Changan Automobile's first full-scale car manufacturing facility outside of China, combines localized operations with methodical manufacturing techniques to embody the company's 41-year vehicle-making experience. The facility serves as a training ground for developing foreign talent and establishes a scalable worldwide standard for Changan Automobile's future overseas plants.

Over the next three years, Changan Automobile plans to launch twelve new energy vehicle models throughout Southeast Asia. In order to function as a worldwide center for right-hand-drive spare parts, the business will also open a parts warehouse in Rayong. It will also add AI capabilities to its Thai digital service platform, including services like remote diagnostics, smart maintenance, intelligent vehicle control, and battery monitoring.
