Barcelona advances to the Champions League final with a 4-0 victory over Dortmund thanks to goals from Yamal, Lewandowski, and Raphinha.
There is still another game to play, but based on this evidence, Barcelona will play it purely for enjoyment, and nobody else might be enjoying themselves as much as they are at the moment. A second Champions League semi-final in ten years is all but certain, as all three of their outstanding forwards scored on route to a 4-0 victory against Borussia Dortmund at Montjuic. Their captain, Raphinha, refused to acknowledge this, but he did so with a knowing smile. A 17-year-old who could already be regarded as the finest player on the continent took the final. And maybe a teammate is the reason he isn't.
After all, Pedri continues to fly over a different aircraft, Robert Lewandowski, who is 20 years older than Lamine, scored his 39th and 40th goals, and Lamine Yamal finished a near-perfect Barcelona performance with a stunning 14th goal of the season. Raphinha, who also scored here as Barcelona reached 144 goals this season and most likely the next round, and perhaps beyond, is the guy above the 37-year-old Pole, who is the second-leading scorer in the Champions League. There is little doubt that they will require some stopping.
Barcelona was in control of the game from the beginning to the conclusion, and Dortmund had trouble against them. Niko Kovac's squad will have to contend with more difficult opponents like Bayern Munich or Inter. After Lewandowski was helped by Raphinha, Dortmund was unable to take advantage of their opportunities as Barcelona's intense pressing smothered them. Raphinha's constant movement generated possibilities, while Frenkie de Jong and Pedri controlled the midfield. After a well-executed set piece, Barcelona eventually seized the lead.
