700GWh of clean power will be produced yearly by a new renewable energy facility in Queensland.
The renewable energy company's current Wandoan South Solar 1 project is being followed by the new solar park in Queensland's Western Downs region. Wandoan South Solar 2 is expected to generate around 700GWh of renewable energy per year once it is operational in mid-2027, which is enough to power about 120,000 typical Queensland homes.
Compared to traditional thermal energy generating methods, this is comparable to eliminating around 568,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions and conserving about 490 million liters of water yearly. As part of Vena's 732MW green power and 600MWh battery storage capacity in operation, building, or contractual phases nationwide, Wandoan South Solar 2 expands on the company's existing development clusters throughout Australia.
The new solar plant, according to Owen Sela, head of Australia at Vena Energy, is another step in Vena's commitment to promoting carbon neutrality and speeding up the adoption of renewable energy while working even more closely with local communities to create a more sustainable society.
CleanCo, a low-emission energy producer, generator, and retailer supported by the Queensland government, has signed a long-term power purchase deal with Vena. Through the deal, CleanCo will be able to provide some of Queensland's biggest employers with renewable energy from Wandoan South Solar 2, advancing both the state's clean energy future and its decarbonization objectives.
