Peaky Blinders Set to Return with New TV Series after Upcoming Movie

Three years after its finale, Peaky Blinders is returning with a new series set in the 1950s, following the release of its WWII-era movie later this year.

Peaky Blinders will get a new season three years after it appeared to be completely canceled. The crime drama extends from 2013 to 2022. The film incorporated the adventures of the Peaky Blinders gang, based in Birmingham, post-World War I, and starred Cillian Murphy as Tommy Shelby.

After much speculation, by last year it became apparent that the film was, indeed, being made. The film's creator, Steven Knight, had hinted that it would be a thrilling, unrestrained chapter in the story. Speaking about the film in February, he also hinted that there was still room for the plot to develop.

He believes that Britain has top actors in one location, and thus nobody will be disappointed. He said on BBC Breakfast that his language was deliberate and that it's a good way to put a word to this part of the Peaky saga. He added that it's still not finished. He's not allowed to make the disclosure, but he's just saying that Peaky's universe will continue.

Early this summer, the new series' filming is scheduled to start. In order to capitalize on the heightened excitement that is expected after the release of a Peaky Blinders feature film later this year, BBC bosses reportedly want the episodes ready for broadcast next year, The Sun stated.
