A group that represents more than 180 clean energy enterprises is led by a former World Economic Forum official with experience in renewable energy and policy development.
Debmalya Sen was named the new president of the India Energy Storage Alliance (IESA) with effect from today. Sen leads the organization's efforts to accelerate the adoption of clean energy throughout India by bringing a wealth of expertise in conventional electricity, renewable energy, energy storage, and green hydrogen.
Sen was formerly the World Economic Forum's India Lead for Advanced Energy Solutions, where he worked on new technologies, regulatory frameworks, and the energy transition. He worked closely with the Solar Energy Corporation of India and the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy to design the nation's energy storage policy.
Sen will be in charge of IESA's industrial alliances, lobbying work, and strategic initiatives in his new position, which will increase the adoption of energy storage across India. IESA's goal will be strengthened by Sen's experience in battery storage, grid modernization, and green hydrogen development, according to Vinayak Walimbe, Managing Director of Customized Energy Solutions India Pvt Ltd.
Through a number of specialized programs, the organization helps India's efforts to achieve net-zero. The India Electric Mobility Council encourages the use of sustainable transportation, while the India Battery Manufacturing & Supply Chain Council develops battery supply chains for future gigafactories. The IESA Reuse & Recycling Council, which focuses on best practices for battery recycling, the India Green Hydrogen Council, and the Stationary Energy Storage India Council are other important initiatives.
