Stop Motion Feature Tales From The Magic Garden to Premier in Berlinale

Tales from the Magic Garden, an independent European production, a new stop-motion animated movie based on the children's fable book Of Unwanted Things and People was officially confirmed as a World Premiere at 2025 Berlin International Film Festival.

The film is a co-production with equal creative contributions from four countries, represented by production companies Maurfilm (Czech Republic), Artichoke (Slovakia), ZVVIKS (Slovenia), and Vivement Lundi (France). The CEE Animation network was instrumental in bringing these producers together, and their relationship has now expanded to include several films and upcoming projects.

Tales from the Magic Garden follows three youngsters as they spend the night at their grandfather's house for the first time since their grandma, a superb storyteller, died. Unable to go asleep without a bedtime tale, the youngsters decide to create their own stories, embarking on a journey that demonstrates how storytelling can help them deal with life's hardships and provide consolation via creativity.

Roze, one of the film's directors, stated that children's programming frequently avoids the topic of death for fear of eliciting negative emotions, leaving children who have experienced a loss feeling alone, as if no one acknowledges what has happened and despite the artistic and financial hazards, the producers decided to approach this delicate subject in a careful and thoughtful manner, which is why this film is so important to her.
