The partnership between Sony Pictures Networks India (SPNI) and the French animation studio that created the Academy Award®-nominated series Oggy and the Cockroaches has been extended.
This deal covers all seasons of the original series as well as the most recent relaunch, Oggy and the Cockroaches: Next Generation, and the feature film Oggy and the Cockroaches: The Movie. Sony YAY!, SPNI's children's channel, will now provide 145 half-hours of entertainment and 423 episodes.
According to Glance and BARC research, Oggy and the Cockroaches reached about 60 million Indian children between the ages of 2 and 14, or one in four children, in the second quarter of 2024. During its prime viewing window (8:20 am to 3:30 pm, Monday to Sunday), the show placed second among children's networks and took up 67% of Sony YAY!'s total viewing hours. Online, the program is becoming more and more famous. In April 2023, its Hindi YouTube channel had 10 million members; now, it has 12.4 million, and it has had 6.7 billion lifetime views. The company also has three million Indian Facebook members and half a million Instagram followers.
Additionally, Sony YAY! and Navneet have teamed up to provide a range of stationery items, including drawing books, art kits, and notebooks. Sony YAY! has been organizing fan events, such as "The Giant Wheel Festival," which included meet-and-greets, entertaining activities, and storytelling sessions based on the series, as the official licensee for Oggy and the Cockroaches items in India.
