Kochi Partners with EU to Launch ‘Mobilise Her’ Project

In addition to developing infrastructure for a female-focused transportation system, the initiative seeks to guarantee seamless, 24-hour transportation arrangements, particularly for women.

Mayor M. Anilkumar announced the "Mobilise Her" initiative, which is being carried out by the Kochi Corporation with support from the European Union (EU) to investigate and alleviate the mobility difficulties that women face.

The initiative seeks to guarantee seamless, 24-hour transportation arrangements, particularly for women. The Kochi Corporation's Centre for Heritage, Environment and Development (C-Hed), the Centre for Public Policy Research, and the Delhi-based Participatory Research in Asia will support its implementation, which will be funded by the EU under the Urban Electric Mobility Initiative.

Approximately eighteen community social organizations have been selected to work together on the project, which will be carried out throughout the city. In his inaugural speech, Mr. Anilkumar mentioned ongoing efforts to make the city more pedestrian-friendly and stressed the need of collaboration in improving the public transit system.

Representatives from selected organizations, including Kochi Metro Rail Limited (KMRL), Kochi Metropolitan Transport Authority (KMTA), Greater Cochin Development Authority (GCDA), Goshree Islands Development Authority, and the World Resources Institute, participated in the discussion held after the inaugural ceremony.
