Animated Film Flow Cat Euro

The Latvian government has given the team behind the animated film ‘Flow’ EUR 300,000 for the Golden Globe prize they received. An extra EUR 150,000 will be granted to cover the film's marketing costs.

Flow is a 3D-animated movie about an individualistic cat forced to flee his house during a large flood and seek refuge on a small boat with other animals. To live in the new and deserted world of people, the cat must adapt its behaviors and work with the rest of the animals.

The film, which is also Latvia's nomination for Best International Feature at the forthcoming Oscars event, contains no dialogue at all. Because of the lack of dialogue, as well as the fact that Flow does not humanize its main characters — a wide-eyed cat, a capybara, a lemur, and a loyal Labrador — the film relies on beautifully crafted visuals and an evocative score to weave a tale of survival, resilience, and hope, a combination that has left many viewers weepy.

The creative team behind the film "Flow" includes director, producer, screenwriter, and artist Zilbalodis, producer of the script Matīss Kažs, Rons Diānss and Gregorijs Zalkmans, sound director Gurvals Koiks-Gallass, chief animator Leo Silī-Pelisjē, music authors Zilbalodis and Rihards Zaļupe, and visual effects artists Konstantīns Višņevskis and Mārtiņš Upītis.
