The Vehicle Technologies Office Program for Fiscal Year 2025 was announced by the U.S. Department of Energy. Up to $88 million will be given out from the financing pool to initiatives looking for creative off-road and on-road vehicle mobility solutions.
The US Department of Energy said in a statement posted on its website that it is dedicated to advancing science and engineering, creating jobs in the United States through research, development, demonstration, and deployment, and making sure that all American communities have access to low-cost, low-emission energy.
This funding opportunity's focus areas will boost U.S. competitiveness and promote dependable, reasonably priced energy innovation in mobility.
A vehicle life cycle analysis baseline, lithium production, lithium-ion batteries and battery module design for electric trucks, thermal management systems, farming vehicles, "Battery Busbar Joining," which covers joining techniques for foil-to-tab manufacturing, EV workforce development, and, lastly, vehicle technology integration as an open topic are among some areas that will be covered by the new funds, which are available for the fiscal year 2025.
The evolution of DOE programs under the new US president, whose initial actions have centered on reversing the accomplishments of his predecessor by eliminating money for electric vehicles and charging infrastructure, will be intriguing to watch.
