A new "Karate Kid" is eager to master the technique of "wax on, wax off."
The latest installment in the martial arts series, Karate Kid: Legends, will hit cinemas on May 30. Sony has unveiled the official trailer for the film.
Star Ralph Macchio, who first portrayed Daniel LaRusso in the 1984 original "Karate Kid" film, and Jackie Chan, who portrayed Mr. Han in the 2010 "Karate Kid" remake, are reunited in "Karate Kid: Legends." Ben Wang, star of "American Born Chinese," portrays Li Fong, a fresh student who joins Daniel and Mr. Han as their newest apprentice.
Following Jackie Chan and Macchio's announcement of a global search in which hundreds of young performers from all over the world tried out for the part, Wang was eventually located. Wang's diverse range of martial arts abilities, which include karate, wing chun/kung fu, gumdo, kempo, and taekwondo, contributed to his selection.
When the film was released, Wang informed Entertainment Weekly that he was the intended viewer. He was precisely the character's age. He had just returned from a year-long stay in Beijing, where the entire film is set. He also watched Jackie Chan films as a child. His earliest memory of what an actor is of Jackie Chan. All of my favorite things were in one location.
Li Fong's mother is portrayed by Ming-Na Wen. Sadie Stanley and Joshua Jackson will also feature in the movie.
