An elite group from South Korea, comprising officials from various energy firms, paid a visit to the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) to discover more about its developments in clean and renewable energy.

Under the guidance of Sung Soo Kim Su, Senior Vice President of the Global Sae-A party, the party visited significant facilities, including the Sustainability and Innovation Center and the Research and Development (R&D) Center at the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park. This solar park is recognized as the largest single-site facility in the world that employs the Independent Power Producer (IPP) model, with plans to generate over 5,000 MW by 2030.

When they visited, DEWA’s R&D Center officials provided them with comprehensive information about the Green Hydrogen initiative. In the Middle East and North Africa, this initiative is the first of its kind to produce hydrogen using solar energy. The significant capacity of the hydrogen storage tank, which can keep hydrogen for up to 12 hours, supports the stability and potential future uses of hydrogen as clean energy solutions. The project will electrolyze water molecules to create green hydrogen using renewable energy. The project allows testing and usage in several hydrogen-related domains, including energy and transportation, and was designed with future flexibility in mind.

The Sustainability and Research Center, a global hub for clean and renewable energy research, also provided the team with a briefing. The center offers guests an engaging experience while showcasing cutting-edge developments in sustainable power. This center aims to promote more research and practical applications in the sustainable energy space.

The South Korean delegation expressed appreciation for DEWA's creative achievements and highlighted how it advances research and development in the renewable energy sector. The discussion focused on the potential collaboration and information exchange between South Korea and Dubai in the area of renewable energy.
