Following a fruitful working visit to the UK, Malaysia's Minister of Tourism, Arts, & Culture, YB Dato Sri Tiong King Sing, strengthened ties with the UK tourism sector by hosting a significant B2B networking event.

The Minister's visit, which included Datuk Manoharan Periasamy, Director General of Tourism Malaysia, demonstrated Malaysia's commitment to enhancing its standing as a top vacation destination for British tourists.

Establishing connections with UK travel companies, travel agencies, and industry decision-makers was the main goal of the visit, which also included looking at potential new areas of cooperation to promote tourism.

A major highlight of the trip was a prominent networking event that brought together UK partners, airlines, and travel industry executives with Malaysian tourism networking.

The creation of bespoke travel packages for UK tourists and strategic efforts for the future Visit Malaysia 2026 (VM2026) campaign were the main topics of discussion.

Furthermore, the team had important discussions with leading travel agencies in the UK and other industry figures to discuss methods to improve Malaysia's attractiveness to the UK market.

Building on the momentum from this visit, Malaysia tourism intends to aggressively promote itself in the UK with an emphasis on strengthening relationships with travel agencies and other industry players.

A massive familiarization tour (fam trip) has been organized to provide UK trade experts a firsthand look at Malaysia and provide them with the information they need to market the country more successfully.

With 240,815 UK tourist visits between January and August 2024—a 34.7% rise over the same period in 2023—the UK continues to be Malaysia's top European tourism market.

Malaysia is aiming for 35.6 million foreign visitor arrivals & RM147.1 billion in tourism revenue as it gets ready for VM2026.

The target is to bring in 27.3 million international visitors by 2024, bringing in RM102.7 billion in revenue and reiterating Malaysia's dedication to strong tourism growth.
