Mid-Autumn Festival

China's Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Affairs has revealed that 107 million domestic travels were made throughout the nation over the Mid-Autumn Festival holiday this year.

An important turning point in China's post-pandemic recovery was the notable spike in domestic travel over this year's Mid-Autumn Festival holiday. The nation had a 6.3% increase in internal travel over a comparable period in 2019, shortly after the global pandemic interrupted vacation plans across the globe, as reported by the Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Affairs.

The National Immigration Agency noted a consistent increase in cross-border travel over the Christmas season in addition to the growth in domestic travel. 5.26 million Overseas journeys were taken in total, indicating a rise in outward travel confidence. Every day, 1.75 million cross-border travels were reported, an increase of 18.6% over the previous year. This increase in cross-border travel is indicative of the progressive openness of international boundaries and the resurgence of Chinese residents' desire to travel abroad.

This year's Mid-Autumn Festival saw an overall increase in domestic and international travel, which is a sign that China's tourism industry is still recovering. The tourism industry will continue to grow as more individuals choose quick journeys and cost-effective transportation choices. This will be aided by the increasing need for leisure travel both inside and outside of China.

During this year's Mid-Autumn Festival vacation, many passengers participated in traditional cultural activities, according to online travel services firm Ctrip. Among these were going to lantern festivals, watching fireworks, taking moonlit boat rides, and seeing traditional gardens while clad in Hanfu, an ancient Chinese traditional gown. Travelers seeking an authentic holiday experience found these activities especially intriguing because they combined seasonal celebrations with cultural heritage.

Younger travelers over the holiday were drawn to smaller towns and picturesque locales that are well-known for being excellent places to observe the moon. These tourists were especially drawn to tranquil, scenic locations that were ideal for soaking in the majesty of the full moon.
